• There is no better way to get inspired than to see the success of sports personalities themselves. The houses they build, the cars they drive and the media attention they attract. Though sportspersons may not be intellectuals like many famous philosophers we know, the little knowledge they share with us will go along way in motivating our young and upcoming sportspersons.

Famous athletes like Usain Bolt are an inspiration to many young people all over the world. What they do or what they say is shared on social sites for days because they are expected to lead the perfect life. As much as we will want to ignore what they say we cannot do without inspirational sports quotes.

Not only sportsmen utter memorable quotes that inspire. Even people behind them, like coaches are a source of motivational words. Vince Lombardi, an American football coach and trainer once shared, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

  • West Brom shirts for their return to the English Premier League in the 2008-09 season were made by Umbro. The shirts had no main sponsor when they were released to the public.

The west brom shirts are as usual in the baggies traditional navy and white vertical stripes. The shoulders for the home shirts were all in a white color with a navy collar. The West Brom badge/crest is as usual on the left chest with the kit maker’s logo, Umbro on the opposite right. The West Brom shirts for home games at the Hawthorns, as usual, are worn with white shorts and socks.

You can see a beautiful image of James Morrison modeling the full WBA kit. You can also like as nice as the star in the home WBA shirts.

For all baggies fans, it is time you got behind your team in their Premier League campaign. I’m sure none of you would like to see the great West Midlands side go down a division.

How many rags to riches stories have we heard about athletes who came from humble beginnings and made it big in Professional Basketball? What does one do to make the cut and be known as a basketball super athlete? Simple, play like the Pros. And how do you do that? I think by now you’re well aware of how tight the competition is, and how hard it is to be recognized as a basketball athlete. Attaining recognition in the line of sports is not so difficult like getting recognized in Hollywood, wherein you need a good agent, a good manager, contacts, talent and good looks. To be known in any sport, you only need one thing and thing alone, the muscle. Getting recognized in such a physical sport is not so hard, when you have what it takes, and what it takes is impressive skills. Managers, trainers, coaches and the people who matter in basketball will find it very hard to ignore you if you can jump a 40 inch leap, don’t you think? So how to jump higher? You train.

There are no shortcuts, no alibis, your money and good looks won’t get you in the shortlist, unless you have super athletic abilities that will guarantee you to be noticed anywhere you play. Jumping higher won’t be easy; it takes dedication, hard work, good training, smarts and strong potent muscles to get you to leap like a Pro. The smart move is to get better, stronger and faster than ever before, and you can do this by having a good jump training program, to start with. Basically, a program with a good workout and diet structure, plyometric vertical jump exercises and muscle and skill specific workout routines, should help you with your goal to jump incredible heights.

Start scouting for the best jump training program, get a good trainer, and personalize your program to perfectly fit your current athletic skills. Get trained and get ready, you’ll be reaping the rewards once you get to jump like the Skywalkers. Fulfill your destiny and aim high.

  • That kind of seems like a bold statement in itself but the fact of the matter, and take it from this professional soccer player, that you don’t need soccer practice to improve. You need individual soccer training and there is a huge difference. When you think of soccer practice you think of team drills, where seldom does everybody have a ball working on individual technical skill. Usually it consists of groups of players running through team exercises working on getting the teams chemistry down and getting in shape. Well that fact of the matter is that is just not going to help you personally.

Think about it this way. If you want to get maximum touches on the ball and want to improve your game as a soccer player, why do you need 10 other players around. Work on yourself in the off time and sharpen the skills you need to improve on. That way when you get to team practice you will be sharper, faster, and quicker on the ball than your other teammates. That will make you stand out much better and make your team better as well.

  • When buying a hockey stick for the first time, I’ll be honest, you should probably just buy the cheapest wood stick you can find. You won’t know the difference. This guide is for when you are ready to buy your first real hockey stick. There are three main factors you want to look at when buying a stick: flex, length, and blade pattern.

    Flex

Composite sticks made of fiberglass, graphite, kevlar and other synthetic materials are labeled with a flex rating. The rating gives you an idea of how easily you will be able to bend the stick. A flex rating of 100 for example, means 100 lbs of force must be applied to bend the stick one inch. Why does this matter? If you watch a skilled player shoot the puck in slow motion you will find he actually contacts the ice in front of the puck with his stick and loads it like a spring. Therefore, if the stick is too stiff for you to bend, you won’t be able to take full advantage of your equipment. Choose a stick you can bend with little effort. It’s better to go too flimsy than too stiff. This hockey stick flex chart provides a good starting point.

    Length

In general, you should look for a stick that comes up to at least your chin while wearing skates. It should go no higher than your nose. From there, hockey stick length is really just a matter of personal preference. If you handle the puck a lot, you may find a shorter stick gives you better control. If you have to cut your stick to alter the length, keep in mind this will change the flex. If you play defense, a longer stick allows for more reach and can help with poke checks. If the stick isn’t long enough you can buy a 6″ plug and insert it into the butt end of your stick, then cut as needed.

    Blade Pattern

Blades come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are named after the player who supposedly uses them, but in reality, a lot of pros use custom equipment. Don’t just buy the blade your favorite player uses. If you are having trouble lifting the puck when you shoot, you may want to try a blade with a more wedge-like shape. If you want to put more spin on the puck, you might try a blade with a deep curve. If you want to know how your playing will be affected by your stick, refer to this blade pattern chart. The name of the player your blade is named after may change over the years, but knowing what attributes you appreciate in a blade will be timeless.

In conclusion, don’t worry so much about the make or model of the stick, focus on the things that will actually affect your game. Good luck!

  • What is special in a football is that each team has players who enter the game during extraordinary plays. This includes kickoffs, field goals, punts, and returns. The kicker wearing specialized football boots and proper football gears kicks off at the beginning of a game or half, and after his team has scored. The kicker also scores points for the offensive team by kicking the ball through the goalpost’s standing posts which are also known as the uprights and these scores are called field goals.

When the offensive team must give up the ball to the opponents, a punter comes in to kick the ball downfield as far as likely toward the opponent’s end zone. One player on the return team catches the kickoff or punt and runs through the field while the other return team players block for him. The return team tries to give the offense good starting field position.

  • Manchester United were always going to have trouble replacing Peter Schiemical as their goalkeeper. He was such a rock at the back for them and rarely did a game go past without him making a brilliant save. It took Alex Ferguson a while but in the end he found Edwin Van der Sar, the Dutch goalkeeper, and bought him in from Fulham.

Ferguson has since described it as one of the best signings he has every made and it is easy to see why. When Van der Sar put’s on his goalkeeper gloves he looks unbeatable. The troubling thing for Ferguson and United fans alike is that Van der Sar is now nearing is 40th birthday and there are question marks about how much longer he can carry on for.

Ben Foster, his United understudy, has been loaned to Birmingham City for a season so it appears likely that Ferguson will have to dig deep and stump up some money for a long term replacement sooner rather than later.
